Measurement and control devices
Measurement and control devices show how the plant is performing: feed and product salinity, filter and membrane pressures, flow rates and tank levels; through the control panel they also run and protect the plant automatically. ALPHA for Environmental Technologies supplies replacement devices by measurement type and operating range.

Instruments in a plant
-
Salinity meter (TDS)
Measures feed and product salinity to follow the salt rejection.
-
Pressure gauges
Measure pressure before and after the filters and at the membranes, to catch clogging early.
-
Flow meters
Measure product and reject flows to work out the recovery.
-
pH meters
Follow the pH where chemicals are dosed.
-
Level and pressure switches
Stop the pumps when the tank level or suction pressure is too low, protecting them.
-
Control panel
Runs the plant and links the readings to the pumps and alarms.
Frequently asked questions about measurement and control devices
Why follow the product water salinity?
A rise is an early sign of a problem with the membranes, seals or pressure, so it can be dealt with before water quality falls.
What does a rising pressure drop across a filter mean?
Usually that the media or cartridges are clogging, so a backwash or new cartridges are needed.
Do the instruments need calibrating?
Yes. Salinity and pH meters are calibrated regularly, as the maker instructs, so their readings stay reliable.
What do I need to order a replacement device?
The measurement type and range, the supply voltage and connection type, or a photo of the current device.
